Summer Clocktower

"Summer Clock-tower"
7"x5" Original Watercolor and Pen
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

Down on the bay front in Petoskey there is a tall red clock-tower. I have now painted this in every season. Thinking about doing them up as a card pack...

Look for me this Friday as part of downtown Petoskey's "Petoskey Rocks!" event. I will be set up and demonstrating painting from 6-9pm somewhere in town. Other artists will be out too! Stop by and see what they're up to!

Also! On Saturday I'll be in Kalkaska taking place in an Art Fair! Come check it out!

Petoskey Open House

Friday night was Petoskey's Open House. Their kick off for the summer season. I positioned myself outside of Northgoods and did a little painting. I met lots of very nice people. Thanks for stopping by!

Jerry was exceptionally popular with his face painting. Some folks waited quite a long time. But it was worth it.

"Relaxed By The Bay"
5"x7" Original Watercolor and Pen
This Painting Is Available At Northgoods In Petoskey

I don't always need a reference to go by. Some of my paintings are straight from my memory. Or something close to it anyway. It was fun painting this. I had forgotten over the winter how it's slightly different painting on my easel than it is at my table. Gravity has more of an affect and I had to keep catching my paint before it bled into a different section. The final result is available at Northgoods in Petoskey. Beach Friends

"Beach Friends"
5"x7" Original Watercolor And Pen On Paper

A problem some of us are struggling with here in Northern Michigan. It's 80+ degrees out but the lakes are still too cold to swim in. So instead we pack up a bag and head to the beach to stare longingly at the water.
Soon enough!

Geranium View

"Geranium View"
5"x7" Original Watercolor And Pen On Paper

I enjoy taking strolls around town now that the weather is enjoyable. On Monday it rained quite a bit and it broke the humidity. So on Tuesday I went for a leisurely stroll through Bay View and down to the lake shore.
There is a little dead end road there and the name of it escapes me. But down at the end there is a low stone wall with pots of geraniums set out. Several chairs are aimed to look out over the bay and it's really all quite cheerful.

Also, I apologize if you signed up for my monthly newsletter and have not received the one for June. I had some troubles with my program and it skipped several people on the list. However, I do not know which ones got it and which didn't.  If you would like to receive it please let me know and I will send you a copy!

Little Miracles

"Looking Over Little Traverse"
8"x10" original watercolor and pen on paper
SOLD

Every once in a while I have the awesome luck of selling a piece right off the easel.
Whenever it happens I'm always speechless.
Sometimes I'm only half way through the work when someone offers to buy it and I can't help but think: "But you don't know how it's going to turn out!"
In truth I suppose they have faith in me. At least, I hope that's the case.
Thank you to all of those people who enjoy my work. Your kind words and gestures mean more than you know!

From The Bay

"From The Bay"
8"x10" original watercolor and pen on paper

This is a view you would see if you were out on a boat in Little Traverse Bay in the summer. As you're coming into the harbor you'll pass our breakwall. The hilly town of Petoskey rises up behind it. Locals and visitors alike are enjoying the warm summer day by jumping off the end of the breakwall into the cool, deep waters of Lake Michigan.

Also, I recently switched out my paintings at Petoskey District Library. I brought in new ones so there's no more snowy pictures. If you're in the area head up to the second floor and check em out! I'd love to hear what you think!

Vines On The Bay

"Vines On The Bay"
5"x7" original watercolor on paper
Available by clicking here.

See! Told ya I couldn't stay away from my brushes!
Here in Northern Michigan we've slowly been turning into wine country. This beautiful little vineyard is located along Little Traverse Bay. Two years ago on our honeymoon my husband and I visited several vineyards in the area. We ventured up into the Leelanau Peninsula as well and found 45 North. I LOVE this winery! If you're looking for something to add to your trip ADD THIS PLACE! The location is beautiful, the people are very friendly and the wine is superb.
(The name comes from their being located on the 45th parallel.)
I raise my glass of 45 White to you in toast to the wonderful beginnings of a new year!

Christmas Cards

"Christmas Kiss"

"Christmas By The Bay"

Oh my, time has gotten away from me lately! I've been working on several projects and something always seems to be forgotten no matter how many lists I make. This time, it happened to be the blog.
I know it seems super early to some people but as an artist trying to stay up to date, I've had to start thinking about Christmas. Every year I design a few different cards and this year my theme is Petoskey. One card features the gazebo in Pennsylvania Park and the other features the frozen bay and the breakwall.
These cards are available for purchase and come in packs of 5 or you can buy a single. I can mix and match the two images if you'd like also.
To purchase, contact me at sarahtuleart@yahoo.com with information on which image you would like and how many. If you live in the Petoskey area look for them soon at local shops!

5 Pack Christmas Cards- $ 12.00

Single Card- $ 2.50

Beach Combing

"Lake Michigan Treasure Hunt"
5"x7"

When you visit Petoskey you'll probably find several people walking the beaches looking for a Petoskey Stone. It's a popular past time here and it's always a thrill to find one of your very own. I've found a few in my lifetime and I have some of them sitting on the desk where I paint. It's a nice reminder of summer when the winter snow seems to stay forever.

Today is the Plein Air Paint Out in Glen Arbor! Dozens of artists are crawling all over Leelanau County looking for that perfect scene to paint! Come out and see what we accomplished this afternoon at the wet painting sale tonight! It's from 5:30-7:30 at the Glen Arbor Art Association

Also, I'm teaching a beginner's watercolor class on Wednesday, August 14th. It's a morning class as I've had a few people want to take it but they couldn't do the afternoon. It's at the Cycling Salamander in Charlevoix from 9:30 am-12. If you'd like to join us contact the gallery at 231-838-6460. Cost is $50/person. All materials are provided so you don't have to do anything but show up!

Wedding By The Bay

A glorious day on the bay for a wedding. The sky is bright, the clouds are puffy, the sun is shining and the bride looks absolutely fabulous as she walks down the aisle.
Wedding commissions are a wonderful idea as a unique gift for the happy newlyweds. I can work from photos that you have taken or I can attend the event and take my own. Then, I'll work closely with you to get everything just right.
If you're interested in a commission, please contact me at sarahtuleart@yahoo.com or by phone at (248) 977-0732 and we can start the process! If you'd like to know a little more before you contact me please check out the "Commissions" tab at the top of the page.

Wequetonsing Mist

"Wequetonsing Mist"
8"x10"

Wequetonsing is a beautiful summer escape on the north side of Little Traverse Bay near Harbor Springs, MI. There is a boardwalk that runs though a gorgeous bit of forest near there owned by the association.
(Shhh! I wasn't supposed to walk there!)
But in the mornings a mist hangs low to the forest floor and you're enveloped in the quiet beauty of nature. Its very beautiful.
This painting is for sale at The Cycling Salamander Gallery in Charlevoix. To purchase this painting you can contact the gallery at (231) 838-6460.
