Vines On The Bay

"Vines On The Bay"
5"x7" original watercolor on paper
Available by clicking here.

See! Told ya I couldn't stay away from my brushes!
Here in Northern Michigan we've slowly been turning into wine country. This beautiful little vineyard is located along Little Traverse Bay. Two years ago on our honeymoon my husband and I visited several vineyards in the area. We ventured up into the Leelanau Peninsula as well and found 45 North. I LOVE this winery! If you're looking for something to add to your trip ADD THIS PLACE! The location is beautiful, the people are very friendly and the wine is superb.
(The name comes from their being located on the 45th parallel.)
I raise my glass of 45 White to you in toast to the wonderful beginnings of a new year!

Fishtown Dockside

Fishtown is a historic district in Leland Michigan, located in the Leelanau Peninsula.
Its a very neat place to visit and if you're ever in the area I recommend spending an few hours there.

Fishing In Fishtown

Finished this little painting this afternoon. It too is destined for "Postcards from Northern Michigan" in Charlevoix later this month. When I visited Leland earlier this spring I snapped several more photos to work from including many of several different fishermen standing on the docks. However, it seems my affection for the small town of Leland has grown and I seem to be collecting paintings of its infamous "Fishtown." Perhaps another show in the making?

Fishtown Dockside

I have a show coming up in March 2012 in the Traverse City Opera House. My work will be featured for the month and I've started churning out the paintings that will be hung in the lobby space. I'm calling this show "Lovely Leelanau" and it will showcase several well know aspects of the area. This particular painting above is of the end of the docks in "Fishtown." When I visited the area earlier this year I fell in love with it and came up with my series which will include 20 paintings. Mark your calendars and I'll see you in Traverse in March!
