Crabby
Finished this painting yesterday of some king crabs. I'm hoping for a show next spring out east. Keeping my fingers crossed. I love the colors you can find in the ocean. So vibrant!

Simple Roots
I grew up in a small town in Northern Michigan on what was a horse farm 200 years before. Now, the only hint that it was ever a farm is the big red barn out back. The fences fell down years ago, the windmill was removed and the 300 acres was sold off in parcels until my parents bought the 10 acres with the silo brick house 25 years ago. The place has a history to say the least and I have many happy memories of my childhood home.
I've started a series of sketches of barns and farm life in hopes of making a book out of them. This particular sketch is of a barn near Bridgewater MI.

Ghostly Tours
Some friends of mine from Sault Ste. Marie are terrific storytellers. They host a walking tour in Sault Ste. Marie and St. Ignace MI that I highly recommend. It's called the Lantern Light Mystery Tour and its about the history of the area as well as some of the local haunts and hauntings. I did some sign commissions for them and just dropped them off today. I hope they have a great turn out this year as they're fantastic people with wonderful story telling abilities. Check out their website for more information on the tours at: Twilight Walking Tours

A Job Well Done
Wanted to thank everyone who could make it to my show this evening! I was glad you came! As far as I'm concerned it was a success. Two paintings sold right off the bat with promises of future opportunities. Great Night!

Current Commission Work
In the midst of getting ready for my show I've accepted a few commissions. This is one that I'm currently working on. I have to admit that faces were never my forte and something about her eyes irks me. I think I may have made them too big and therefore, a bit cartoon like. I may start over because I can't go back and fix that now; too far in. Oh well....I'll stare at it a few more hours until I come to a decision.
