Breakwall Watchers

"Breakwall Watchers"
8"x10" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Pieces on Mitchell Street in Petoskey

This is a view you can see quite often at Bayfront Park in Petoskey. Across the bay is Harbor Springs. Sailboats populate the summer waters and people walk the shorelines looking for Petoskey Stones.
I miss summer. Can you tell?

Speaking of summer, I was chosen to be one of the artists for Lansing Art Gallery's Summer Camp! I'll be teaching July 21st-24th. I am excited to be working with the kids!
Registration will be open soon. Keep an eye out on Lansing Art Gallery's website

Petoskey Breakwall Sunset #3

"Petoskey Breakwall Sunset #3"
5"x7" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

We get some gorgeous sunsets here in Petoskey. Not so much in the winter, but during the summer I love to go out onto my balcony and watch the colors in the evening. From my apartment I have a beautiful view of the bay. I can't quite see the breakwall but I can see Harbor Springs and all of the little white pin pricks that are sailboats coming in for the evening.
This view was taken from an evening walk I took last September. I was walking on the bike trail that follows the shoreline and wandered down onto the beach to capture this with my camera. It's nice to have the reference pictures come winter when you need a little color in your life.

Breakwall Sailing

"Breakwall Sailing"
8"x10" Original Watercolor and Pen on Paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

See? I told you I caught the bug to paint the breakwall.
I had a lot of fun painting all of the blues in this. It was refreshing to paint summer.

Petoskey Breakwall Series

"Petoskey Breakwall Sunset #2"
8"x10" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Pieces on Mitchell Street in Petoskey

Get ready! I've been painting different views of the Petoskey Breakwall. Every once in a while I get this obsession with something. Then I paint it and paint it and paint it until I've exhausted it. This time around it happens to be the breakwall.
Petoskey breakwall juts out into Lake Michigan. It's a popular spot for swimmer in the summer. They launch themselves off the end of it into the cold water. It's a lot of fun. People also gather to watch the sailboats float by in the summer and to watch the sunset.

Tunnel Of Trees Mini

"Tunnel Of Trees" miniature
4"x4" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

The tunnel of trees is beautiful at any time of year. Right now it would probably be quite difficult to traverse with all the weather we've been having but all of the snow laden trees are probably quite lovely.
Spring is on its way however and that means the trilliums are coming! These gorgeous little white flowers blanket the forest floor along M-119 in the spring and it is a must see! I can't wait!
