Lilac Picnic

Every year on Mackinac Island, they have a lilac festival. People come from all over the world during these two weeks to take in the seductive perfume of these flowers. Many take picnic lunches as the couple in the painting have done. This small painting will be for sale soon at Voyageurs Trading Post in St. Ignace.

In other news, I just returned from a fantastic trip to Nova Scotia! It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited and plan to return several more times in my life. The painting material there was abundant and it got me outside to enjoy the summer by the sea. I plan to make a painting series, showcasing my travels there so stay tuned!

Northern Recognition

Just went and picked up a few copies of THE GRAPHIC for my family. I'm in it! YAY!

Afternoon Walk

A vibrant painting of a young couple out for a walk with their dog. I had a lot of fun adding all the color in this picture. Can't you almost smell the autumn leaves? Not that I'm trying to rush anything. SO happy that summer is finally here! Can't wait to get outside and enjoy it later today!

A Fine Day In Mackinaw

Painted this scene from the slope in the  front yard. My summer living place is absolutely gorgeous and offers many, MANY different scenes to paint. The colors in the ever changing straits, the sky, the shadows all keep me intrigued. Lilacs are plentiful in Mackinaw and the Island is having its famous "Lilac Festival" this coming week. If you're in the north I highly recommend heading to the Island to check it out. For information on the festival click HERE.
This painting is another that I'll be sending to Charlevoix for the "Postcards From Northern Michigan" show. For more information on that click on the "Look For Me" tab at the top of the screen.
Also, I'm very excited to announce that in this issue of the Graphic, I am the featured artist! You can check it out by visiting their website at  www.thegraphicweekly.com or you can pick up your free copy of the Graphic at many places throughout northern Michigan.

Fishing In Fishtown

Finished this little painting this afternoon. It too is destined for "Postcards from Northern Michigan" in Charlevoix later this month. When I visited Leland earlier this spring I snapped several more photos to work from including many of several different fishermen standing on the docks. However, it seems my affection for the small town of Leland has grown and I seem to be collecting paintings of its infamous "Fishtown." Perhaps another show in the making?

Coming In For A Landing

My newest. As I've said, the weather has been crappy and I'm still entertaining dreams of getting the kayak out for a nice, warm afternoon. So instead of getting out there and paddling in the cold rain, I paint it. Makes sense right?
I'd like to add that the last three paintings I've posted are going to be included in Charlevoix's "Postcards from Northern Michigan" show this July. You can find more info by clicking on the "Look for Me" tab at the top of the screen or by visiting Charlevoix Circle Of Arts website.
