The Leaves They Are A-Changin' M-119 Miniature

"The Leaves They Are A-Changin'"
Miniature Original Watercolor 2.5"x3.5"
Available at Northgoods In Petoskey

This week I finished a couple more miniatures that I'm taking to Northgoods in Petoskey this weekend. I really enjoy painting these little bitty paintings. It's quick and stress free. I also use them as studies for larger works later on.
The leaves are changing here in northern Michigan! It's sooooo beautiful! A great place to see color is along M-119 near Harbor Springs. You can follow this road along the shores of Lake Michigan up to Sturgeon Bay Dunes if you want to! Some of my favorite stops are the Good Hart General Store and Pond Hill Farm.

M-119 Minis

Finished a few M-119 mini paintings for Northgoods in Petoskey
The leaf colors aren't quite to this level yet, but I have noticed some leaves changing! Hard to believe it's already fall. When did that happen?

Have A Great Weekend!

Through The Trees

"Through The Trees"
5"x7" Original Watercolor And Pen On Paper

The tunnel of trees is now green and lush. So very different from only a month ago when we were beginning to wonder if it was ever going to get warm.

How Much Is That Trillium In The Window?

"Trilliums On North Country"
16"x20" Original Watercolor and Pen on Paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

Over the past couple of days THIS is what has been keeping me busy. This painting is quite a bit larger than my normal work. It was a lot of erasing and re-drawing but I really like the end result. I'm hoping to do some more larger paintings in the near future.
This painting's destination is the front window at Northgoods where Anne has been working on a spring set up. When you stop by the shop be sure to mention how much you love the trilliums she made for the display!

Have a great weekend!

Summer Shadows on M-119

"Summer Shadows On M-119"
5"x7" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

In the summer, if you drive up M-119 from Harbor Springs to the dunes at Sturgeon Bay there are beautiful things to see. Striking views of Lake Michigan, the quaint bergs of Goodhart and Cross Village, and all of the beautiful woodlands.
Late in the afternoon the sun falls through the leaves and dapples on the road.
Drive slowly, windows down, breathing in the essence of summer.

Tunnel Of Trees Mini

"Tunnel Of Trees" miniature
4"x4" original watercolor and pen on paper
Available at Northgoods in Petoskey

The tunnel of trees is beautiful at any time of year. Right now it would probably be quite difficult to traverse with all the weather we've been having but all of the snow laden trees are probably quite lovely.
Spring is on its way however and that means the trilliums are coming! These gorgeous little white flowers blanket the forest floor along M-119 in the spring and it is a must see! I can't wait!

Boyne Highlands Hilltop

"Boyne Highlands Hilltop"
5"x7"

I know it's not actually ski season yet, (thank God, I think it would kill me if there was that much snow already!) but I'm trying to stay ahead of the curve!
This couple is enjoying the view briefly before making the descent at Boyne Highlands up north here in Harbor Springs.

Have A "Spooktacular" Halloween!

Serene Sunrise

"Serene Sunrise"

I drove my husband to work one morning and on the way home I took the road that followed the bay. The sun was just coming up and it had turned everything a pink hue. The water was like glass and the reflections lay perfectly.

Golden Shadows

Late afternoon light filters through the trees on one of my favorite trails near Harbor Springs. I love walking the pathway and taking in the smell of cedar and listening to Lake Michigan crash against the shore in the distance. Late afternoon sun always seems to turn everything to gold and I appreciate that small pleasure in life.
To purchase this painting bid in the Daily Paintworks Auction by clicking here. You can also email me and buy in outright: sarahtuleart@yahoo.com
DON'T FORGET! Tomorrow the auction begins on Daily Paintworks for January's Manna Food Project auction. To go to that auction click here. Please tell others about this auction as it is important to me. I'd love to show up at their food pantry every month with a big check for them. 100% of the proceeds from the monthly auction will go towards feeding hungry families right here in northern Michigan.
Thanks for your help!

Send Some Christmas Cheer

One of the things I most look forward to as the holidays draw nearer is the cards and letters I receive. I display them around my Christmas tree so that I can sit back, enjoy a cup of coco and remember how much I am loved even if the life of an artist is fairly solitary in the winter.
I'm certain that other folks feel this way and Christmas is a wonderful time to remind them that you love them. So, for the last two years I have made my own Christmas Cards to send out. The designs in the picture were the favorites and so I have them in packs for sale. They come in packs of 5 with envelopes and are $10 a pack. If you're interested in purchasing some you can email me at sarahtuleart@yahoo.com and let me know which design you'd like. Alternatively, there is also a few packs for sale at the Hanni Gallery in Harbor Springs. Now is a great time to get them!

Kayaking with Grandpa

I was inspired to do this painting from a recent trip to Harbor Springs. I was walking down the street and passed in front of a grandfather and his grandson on their way to do some kayaking. I thought it looked like fun.
When I uploaded the photo I lost a lot of the coloring in the sand, lake and sky. I think I need to take a better picture!

Trilliums

In Northern Michigan springtime, the forests are carpeted with a beautiful white flower known as a "Trillium." Folks flock from everywhere to see these short lived flowers. The hills on Pleasant View Road between Pellston and Harbor Springs are especially beautiful. The photo I took shows them in abundance. I love strolling down the North Country Trail taking it all in. I can't say that the flowers smell heavenly but after 5 months of snow I'll take what I can get.  My newest painting "Trilliums" is for...take a guess...."A Walk In The Woods!" Its peaceful to me and I can't wait for the snow to melt.

Kayaks

I was sifting through my paintings folder on my computer and found more reasons to anticipate summer. Now only if the snow would melt.
Last summer I did a kayak series and these are a few of them. I really love being out on the water and I live in Michigan so really, it's not hard to get to a river or lake. Being that it's March I'm hoping that the ice will all clear away soon so I can go exploring in my kayak again.
Last August, my fiance and his family were in a biathlon in Indian River MI. He kayaked 5.5 miles and biked 14 miles. The first painting is the result of the photos I took of the many kayaks on the shore. I'm a wimp....I didn't compete.
The second is by Harbor Springs MI, a beautiful harbor town on the North Western side of Michigan. I used to spend many of my summer days here enjoying the upscale shops and pristine parks.
