I've been working on improving my skies lately. Which has led to a lot of fun experimenting. I really like the softness in this on and the strokes that stayed in the sky. Watercolor can be so much fun to work with!

I love how long twilight seems to last in the summer. The sky is brilliant as the sun fades and the stars begin to appear. Makes me want to grab a drink and prop up my feet on the deck and just enjoy the moment.

I've been having fun dabbling in acrylics! I saw this sunset a few weeks ago while driving home and used my artistic license to change it up a bit for this painting. It never ceases to amaze me how many colors can be seen in the sky all at once. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to try and capture it here!

 I've been longing for the return of summer (it snowed here yesterday) and have been painting scenes of a summer on the lake. This one is from a beach gathering with friends a few years back.

I struck me the other day as I was looking through the mini paintings I've completed for my series "100 Tiny Views Of Lake Michigan," I didn't have any sunset paintings. People love the sunsets over Lake Michigan! They drive for MILES to watch the sun set over the water. 

So....I decided to rectify that and paint a couple. My tiny paintings are not nearly as stunning as some of the actual sunsets I have witnessed but I hope they come close. I enjoy all of the colors that creep into the sky at the end of the day. Especially over the water. 

Today is my husband's birthday! We're having a cook out!
