Lake Michigan Sunset Minis

"Lake Michigan Sunset #1"
2.5"x 3.5" Original Watercolor And Pen

"Lake Michigan Sunset #2"
2.5"x 3.5" Original Watercolor And Pen

I struck me the other day as I was looking through the mini paintings I've completed for my series "100 Tiny Views Of Lake Michigan," I didn't have any sunset paintings. People love the sunsets over Lake Michigan! They drive for MILES to watch the sun set over the water.
So....I decided to rectify that and paint a couple. My tiny paintings are not nearly as stunning as some of the actual sunsets I have witnessed but I hope they come close. I enjoy all of the colors that creep into the sky at the end of the day. Especially over the water.

Today is my husband's birthday! We're having a cook out!
Happy Birthday Hun! Love you!

Creative Block

"Sailing Sunset"
8"x10"
Watercolor on Paper
Available by clicking here.

For some, it must be hard to imagine that an artist can hit a block. I mean, come on, we "draw pictures all day" right? But some days, you walk into the studio, look at the empty sheet of paper and walk back out again. Nothing comes to you. Painting doesn't sound like fun. And there is that laundry that needs to be done...
Now, I'm not saying I'm one of those who waits around for inspiration to strike. If I did that I'd hardly have any finished paintings and I'd certainly never get a series together to do a show. So I try to force it. Sometimes, when I have no urge to create, I paint a sunset.
It's simple: get something down on paper. A sunset to me is one of the easiest, most relaxing things to paint. Have you stared for long hours at sunsets? The sky is filled with colors each time the sun goes down. So you can really use which ever color strikes you!
Once I get my sunset down, the urge to create becomes a little stronger. (Usually). Then I can move on to things I have planned and meet my deadlines. It's really all a matter of getting those creative juices flowing.

Tiny Sunsets

I painted these miniature paintings looking for a way to set some artwork in a lower price bracket. These paintings are 2.5'x3.5" and are known as "Artist Trading Cards" or at least they're the correct size to be trading cards. I'll be matting them so that they'll fit into a 6"x6" frame.
I have several other artist's cards framed and hung in my home and when hung all together it creates a neat assortment on the wall.
To purchase these at $15 each, please email me at: sarahtuleart@yahoo.com or call at (248) 977-0732. They will be matted and ready to slip into a frame.
