Dennos Small Works Show 2014

I attended the opening of the Small Works Show last night at the Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City. It was an excellent turn out, lots of people excited about art. 

If you were unable to make it out last night don't worry! The show runs through the weekend, closing Sunday afternoon at 4pm. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up some gorgeous pieces of work for extremely reasonable prices. I hope you can make it!

Next weekend I'm off to Republic, MI for their first annual "Mining The Arts Festival." I've been working hard to get several new pieces done to take with me. Check back to see some of them soon!

I'm looking forward to my Pictured Rocks hike later this summer. I started flipping through some photo albums from my past hikes and decided to do a painting. For this one I combined pieces from several different photos. That's actually my father's and my packs leaning against the tree. I liked the dappled light on them.

Charlevoix Lighthouse sits at the mouth of the Pine River on the edge of Lake Michigan. Right now it doesn't look like this. Ice is still melting around it. I miss summer so much. 

This weekend though, I am headed for slightly warmer temps. My little sister is graduating from college! So my family is all headed down to spend the weekend together. I am very much looking forward to not having to wear so many layers.  And food. Always food.

I was thrilled to recently learn that my series of yoga poses sold! 

Here in downtown Petoskey there is a yoga studio called North Woods Yoga. It happens to be located above the space where I rent my studio. Apparently one day, not too long ago, one of the students saw my work in the window and went inside the shop and bought the whole series.

Continuing on with my series "100 Tiny Views Of Lake Michigan," I have added Grand Haven Light in two different moods. 

It was fun finding the colors to portray a bright sunny day and then switch it up to an incoming storm.
