Above is one of the commission projects I recently received. Pet portraits can be a great way to remember your beloved furry friends. I had a lot of fun painting this one, it's quite unlike any of the pet portraits I've done before. 

Commission Work

I know it seems early and I don't mean to rush the season but if anyone is interested in commission work now is the time to start thinking about it! That is, if you're looking for a fun and unique Christmas present!

I have experience doing all kinds of commissions and would love to paint something special for you! I have done homes, pets, events, etc. The possibilities are endless!

These are great to give as gifts. People love their pets! It's also a nice memento after a pet has passed and is a nice way of keeping their memory alive.

Pet Commission

Ta Da! Fluffy Kitty commission complete! I think it turned out well, personally. The owners of the painting seem to be excited. So I'm glad :).
Now...to start on the next one. I wish I had more studio space so I could have multiple big paintings going at once. Something to look forward to I guess. Also, I'll have more time to paint after the wedding next weekend. SOOOOO EXCITED!

Throw The Ball!

When I do commission work I often work from photographs. We discuss what the client is looking for and I draw a quick sketch to show them how I interpret what they are asking for. This is an example of one of those sketches. A client asked me to draw their old dog Damask, who was a Red Tick Hound. Damask used to love to play in the backyard and have her red ball thrown for her to fetch. They asked that I draw her waiting for the ball to be thrown, at complete attention. This is what I came up with. 

We discussed the picture and they made a few suggestions and pointed out things they would like changed. So now when I paint the final picture, I have this AND the photos AND their advice to work from. It really makes the whole process a lot easier.
