Versatile Cherries

Wow....I've been very bad about posting. Not that I haven't been painting. I simply don't have internet access in the apartment I rent and....well, unless I venture out into the world it may be a few days before I use a computer again. Anywho, this a painting for my "Lovely Leelanau" show. Traverse City and the surrounding area is well known for it's large supply of cherries and cherry products. The entire landscape seems to be covered in orchards. So I figured it was fitting to toss in some paintings featuring their export product.
I like the way the colors came out in this painting. Something about them just really seems to "pop." Check out my new tab "Look For Me" at the top of the page. It's a schedule that I will keep updating as I get more shows and exhibitions. Closest show in the future is of course "Lovely Leelanau" which will be up for the month of March at the Traverse City Opera House and can be viewed during normal hours. However, if you'd like to talk with me, there's a "Meet The Artist" reception on Wednesday, March 7th from 5-8pm. The date had to be moved from the 8th due to conflicting events. Hope to see you there!

Boathouse Fishin

Another painting for my show "Lovely Leelanau." This intriguing boathouse can be found across the river from the Bluebird Restaurant in Leland. I happened to be eating dinner there when a group came down to go fishing. They were quite entertaining to watch (dinner and a show ha ha). At any rate, once the scene was livened up with people I had a very strong urge to paint it. They seemed to add something to the area, young vibrant life with an old ramshackle boathouse. Look for this painting at my show in March!

Fishtown Dam

Finally after all the holiday rushing and everything else that seems to happen I am back! Ha ha! The painting above took me longer than most of my work does and it was largely because I just wasn't sure if I was finished with it. Last night I decided I must be so this is how it will look at my show in March. It features the dam in Fishtown in the Leelanau Peninsula with a sailboat that happened to be docked at the time. The morning light was pouring out from around the river bend and it all just seemed so magical.
Come see me in March in Traverse City! My work is being featured at the Opera House for the month. I'll be around for the Meet The Artist Reception on Thursday March 8th from 5-8pm. If you'd like to receive an invite by mail or have a suggestion for a painting please feel free to contact me at sarahtuleart@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Exploring The Vineyard

A captured moment of a group of friends meandering through a vineyard. Each has a sample of wine in their hand which they swirl as they make lively conversation. Vineyards in autumn are lovely aren't they?
This painting will be included with my "Lovely Leelanau" series to be show at the Traverse City Opera House in March.

Pour Me Another Glass!

On our honeymoon in Leelanau my husband and I visited a winery called 45. The staff was awesome, the building very unique and the wine was scrumptious! We visited with them for a while while test tasting and learned many new things about wine and the process of making it. Then we wandered the grounds and took in the beautiful views. So in tribute I'll be doing some paintings of 45. In this picture is one of my favorites of theirs. I highly recommend stopping by if you're ever up by Leland. They won't disappoint you!
This painting will be feature in my show "Lovely Leelanau" at the Traverse City Opera House this March. Everyone is welcome but if you'd like a personal invite email me your info!

Apple Harvest

I found this orchard in Leelanau this fall and felt the need to capture it as a painting. This painting is going to end up doing double duty if it doesn't sell at the first show. Therefore, it will be in my March show in Traverse City called "Lovely Leelanau," and if it doesn't sell it will also be included in Simple Roots. I like how this painting turned out. I think the colors in it are quite good.

Lovely Leland

Another painting for my Lovely Leelanau show in March. A different view of "Fishtown." I think I like this one better than the other. I think the angle lends something to it. Come see my show in Travserse City at the Opera House in March! Opening reception is the 8th, come chat!
